British singer Raye, 28, will make her acting debut in Lineage, a new crime drama set in multicultural London. Directed by Yann Demange, known for Top Boy, the film stars Isabelle Huppert alongside Raye and Dali Benssalah, Adam Bessa.
The plot centers on Tariq, released from prison, trying to reconnect with his son and rebuild life before being drawn back into London’s criminal underworld. His mother is a crime boss, described as powerful in the film’s description by Enda Walsh, who wrote the screenplay.
Demange calls Lineage a “love letter” to the London he grew up in, emphasizing its focus on family relationships and emotional struggles. Producer Thomas Benski describes it as bold, filmmaker-driven cinema with global commercial appeal.
