Ruet Committee to Spot Rajab Moon Tonight

Pakistan’s premier moon sighting authority, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, is assembling this Friday evening to witness the emergence of the moon of Rajab ul Murajab 1445.

Ruet members have expressed cautious optimism, though cloudy weather in the capital has dimmed the chances of a clear sighting of the Rajab moon today.

Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar, holds profound significance for Muslims who, during this period, actively participate in special acts of worship, reflection, and supplication.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the chairman of the Ruet body, is presiding over a pivotal zonal and district Hilal committee meeting at the Kohsar building in Islamabad.

Simultaneously, zonal committees are set to convene meetings in Lahore and Peshawar, intensifying the nationwide effort to catch a glimpse of the Rajab moon in 2024.

Participation in this celestial mission extends beyond religious circles, with members from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the Department of Meteorology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology adding their expertise to the proceedings.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is poised to release a notification in line with customary practice, marking the culmination of the Ruet Committee’s meeting on the 29th day of the lunar month, dedicated to sighting the moon of the upcoming month.
