A motorcyclist was killed and his wife and daughter critically injured after a rusted electric pole fell onto their motorcycle on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi on Thursday.
The incident took place near the Karsaz area, where the deteriorating metal pole collapsed, striking the family as they travelled by motorbike.
Rescue teams arrived promptly and transported the victims to a nearby hospital. The motorcyclist, identified as Jameel, was declared dead on arrival. His wife, Fatima, and young daughter, Anesha, remain in critical condition, according to hospital sources.
The collapse has raised concerns over aging infrastructure and the need for urgent inspection of public utilities in one of the city’s busiest corridors. Authorities have not yet issued a formal statement on the cause or liability.
