
Chandi Raj Dhakal met with President Atif Ikram Sheikh in Islamabad to congratulate him on his election as Vice President of SAARC Chamber. They discussed organizational matters and the promotion of regional trade during their meeting.
Both leaders agreed that the SAARC business organization should be more active to enhance economic cooperation among member states. The discussion also covered proposals for improving air and land connectivity within the region, which would further facilitate trade and transportation.
Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized the need for member countries to set aside differences and focus on mutual cooperation for regional development. He highlighted the potential for joint development opportunities in the SAARC region that could benefit the common people.
Dhakal stressed Pakistan’s significant role in establishing and maintaining the stability of the SAARC organization. He urged the business community to take practical steps with governments, including the establishment of a SAARC House in Pakistan, which would strengthen organizational links and cooperation among member states. The Secretary General, Brig Iftikhar Opel, SI (M), Retd., was also present at the meeting.
