Sabri Sisters Take Center Stage in New York’s Times Square as Spotify’s EQUAL Pakistan Ambassadors for Q2 2026

Following their announcement as Spotify EQUAL Pakistan Ambassadors for Q2 2026 earlier this quarter, the Sabri Sisters were featured on Spotify’s iconic Times Square billboard in New York City on June 17, joining a growing list of Pakistani women artists showcased on a global stage through the EQUAL program. Torchbearers of a legendary musical legacy and breaking stereotypes in a genre traditionally dominated by men, the breakout duo of Sanam and Anamta Sabri is bridging the gap between spiritual traditions and contemporary sounds.

Nieces of the legendary late Amjad Sabri and direct descendants of the iconic Sabri Brothers, the Sabri Sisters first made headlines in 2017 when they released a Persian-Punjabi manqabat in honor of their late uncle on the first anniversary of his passing. Since then, tracks such as the hit OST Meri Zindagi Hai Tu with Asim Azhar and the viral Maghron La have helped cement their reputation as artists bringing a fresh perspective to Sufi and qawwali-inspired music.

The duo’s breakout collaboration Meri Zindagi Hai Tu has resonated strongly with listeners, spending more than 30 weeks on Spotify’s Top 50 – Pakistan. The track has also been featured across popular playlists including EQUAL, Pakka Hit Hai, and Hot Hits Pakistan, becoming the Sabri Sisters’ most-streamed song to date. According to Spotify data, the duo has also built an international audience, with the United States, United Kingdom, and Bangladesh ranking among their top listener countries.

While Sufi music and qawwali have traditionally attracted older audiences, Spotify data suggests a growing connection with younger listeners. Nearly half of the Sabri Sisters’ audience is aged 18–24, highlighting the duo’s ability to introduce these rich musical traditions to a new generation.

A platform like EQUAL Pakistan from Spotify is important as it gives recognition to Pakistani artists on a global scale, said the Sabri Sisters. There was always a wish to be part of this prestigious list of musicians who have been selected as EQUAL Ambassadors in the past, and now it feels so surreal and exciting, especially knowing that legends like Abida Parveen and Sanam Marvi have represented Pakistan as well.

EQUAL Pakistan is about spotlighting artists who reflect the diversity and creativity of Pakistan’s music scene, said Rutaba Yaqub, Artists & Label Partnerships Manager at Spotify for Pakistan and UAE. As some of the few women making their mark in the traditionally male-dominated qawwali space, the Sabri Sisters are helping expand the boundaries of the genre while honoring its rich heritage. Their recognition celebrates both their individual journey and the evolving sound of Pakistani music.

Through EQUAL Pakistan, Spotify continues to support and amplify women artists, helping them reach new audiences and gain visibility both locally and globally. The Sabri Sisters’ recognition as the latest EQUAL Pakistan Ambassadors underscores Spotify’s ongoing commitment to elevating diverse voices and showcasing Pakistani talent worldwide.
