Sarim Murder Case Stalls as DNA Evidence Fails to Identify Suspect

The probe into the murder of seven-year-old Sarim, whose body was discovered in a water tank 11 days after he went missing from North Karachi, has hit a dead end as DNA samples from 25 suspects failed to match evidence from the crime scene.

Authorities revealed that the decomposition of the child’s body had severely compromised the DNA evidence, making it difficult to obtain a conclusive match. Despite extensive testing, investigators have yet to identify a suspect.

In a renewed effort, police last week detained four more individuals from the apartment complex where the body was found and collected their DNA samples. However, with no breakthrough so far, the investigation team is now considering alternative approaches.

A new team, including an SSP and four SHOs, has been assigned to assist in the high-profile case. The team, which was formed without prior notification, will report directly to the DIG West, providing daily updates to ensure close monitoring of the investigation.

With the case still unsolved, authorities are under mounting pressure to deliver justice for Sarim’s family.
