Savannah Guthrie, host of the Today show, has sparked reactions with her emotional statement regarding her missing mother Nancy.
The TV personality revealed in an interview with KOLD that her family has been enduring “unending trauma” since her mother was abducted from their home on February 1. She said there is not a moment that goes by when they aren’t actively trying to find their mom.
Guthrie thanked the people of Tucson for holding her mother in their hearts, as well as both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office for their tireless work on behalf of her family.
The statement drew mixed reactions from fans. One fan criticized Guthrie for acting close to her mother when she was thousands of miles away and rarely visited her, even leaving her vulnerable in a remote area living alone in her 80s. Another fan called for more attention to be given to other missing persons who are not wealthy or overexposed on TV daily. The third fan pointed out the trauma faced by many American families due to open borders and radical catch-and-release criminal justice policies, suggesting Guthrie showed little concern about crime until it affected her personally.
