Security forces carried out large-scale counterterrorism and sanitization operations across Balochistan, killing 22 more terrorists overnight, bringing the total to at least 177 over the past three days. Officials stated that these actions were initiated in response to coordinated attacks on Saturday, which targeted security installations and civilian areas.
The campaign involved cordon-and-sweep and follow-up operations at multiple locations, as security forces tightened their efforts around terrorists and their facilitators. Sources revealed further losses had been inflicted upon militant networks during the ongoing operations.
Earlier, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the crackdown as one of the most extensive intelligence-based operations carried out within such a short period, following attacks claimed by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). On Saturday, terrorists launched coordinated assaults at several locations including Quetta, Mastung, Noshki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. Security forces engaged in prolonged standoffs and clearance operations.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (PSR), 92 terrorists were killed on the first day of operations. Additionally, 18 civilians lost their lives, while 15 security personnel “fought gallantly and embraced martyrdom” during clashes across the province. On Sunday, Bugti updated this number to include 145 terrorists killed.
Bugti accused terrorists of deliberately targeting civilians and damaging surveillance infrastructure, including Safe City cameras in Quetta. He cited incidents where women and children were used as human shields in attacks in Gwadar and Quetta.
