Sources within the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) suggest that the announcement of the next Chief Minister for Sindh is imminent, likely to be made within the next few days.
Former Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Nasir Shah are emerging as the frontrunners for the coveted position, with some PPP leaders also proposing Faryal Talpur as a potential candidate, potentially making her the first female Chief Minister of the province.
The decision regarding the new Chief Minister is expected to be made through mutual consultation between PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
With the PPP securing 84 seats in the Sindh Assembly, it holds a strong position to claim the top slot in the province without needing support from other parties. Following the allocation of reserved seats for minorities and women, the PPP’s total count in the 168-seat house could reach 109 members.
This potential appointment would mark the fourth consecutive term for the PPP in forming the government in Sindh, with the MQM-P securing 28 provincial assembly seats, reclaiming its position as the leading party in the province, previously lost to the PTI in the last election.
