In response to a fire incident at a private hotel in Lahore’s Gulberg neighborhood on Saturday, police have initiated legal proceedings against six individuals including the establishment’s proprietor. The matter was brought forward by Rashid Rafique, the Chief Instructor of Civil Defence.
The FIR indicates that the case has been registered based on an official complaint from Rashid Rafique. Six persons—Nadeem Mirza, Fazeel Ahmed Khan, Atif Muhammad, Kamil Khan, Bilal Shah, and Muhammad Masaib—are named in this investigation.
According to the FIR documentation, a boiler was installed illegally in the basement of the hotel through an Sui gas connection that did not meet safety standards. The individual responsible for operating the boiler lacked experience, thereby increasing the likelihood of an accident occurring.
The FIR also mentions that prior to this incident, the hotel management had been warned and ordered to rectify security measures, yet they failed to do so adequately.
Police have registered these individuals under various sections of the law and are currently conducting investigations into the matter.
