Stephen Colbert is candid about the impending end of The Late Show, a late-night talk show set to conclude in four months. During an episode of Seth Meyers’ Late Night, Colbert shared his emotional state as he prepares for the end of his own late-night show.
“It feels real now,” Colbert told Meyers in a teaser clip posted on the show’s Instagram account. “I know it was real, but now there are only four months left.”
Colbert elaborated that while he enjoys working with fellow comedian Seth Meyers and their shared cast members, what truly matters to him is the team assembled for his program.
“The Late Show has no place like the Ed Sullivan Theater,” Colbert explained. “But more than anything, I will miss the people who make it special.”
Deadline reported that The Late Show’s final episode will air on May 21. Earlier this year, in a July 17 broadcast, Colbert announced the show’s end with an emotional opening monologue: “Before we start the show, I want you to know something that I found out just last night—next year will be our last season. The network will be ending The Late Show in May.”
