In Lahore, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar declared Saturday that terrorism must be eradicated from its roots to safeguard Pakistan’s law and order, religious harmony, and the nation’s unity.

Tarar addressed a press conference at Jamia Minhaj-ul-Hussain on the day following Friday prayers in Islamabad when a suicide bombing occurred targeting an Imambargah. In his remarks, he condemned the attack, emphasizing the state’s commitment to protecting its citizens and securing places of worship.

“We are fully committed to safeguarding lives and property,” Tarar declared. “No one will be allowed to disturb law and order or foster sectarianism within our borders.” He further highlighted that acts such as those perpetrated by terrorists for material gain are heinous crimes that betray humanity’s values.

Tarar continued, asserting the state’s support for victims of terrorism, stating, “The government stands alongside bereaved families, ensuring their well-being.” He denounced the involvement of terrorist elements within Pakistan and pointed out their foreign sponsors. These adversaries seek to undermine the nation’s peace, unity, and development.

Referring to extremism as an intolerable aspect of life in Pakistan, Tarar added that his country will not tolerate these ideologies under any circumstances. Under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Tarar announced a new initiative: the establishment of the Paigham-e-Aman Committee. This committee promotes peace and counters terrorist narratives by engaging with various schools of thought.

Since the attack in Islamabad, 170 injured individuals have been provided medical care. Tarar reiterated his commitment to these victims, emphasizing that those families left behind would not be abandoned.

In response to questions regarding the evolving tactics of terrorists, Tarar expressed optimism: “Terrorists are nearing their end and will soon be eliminated,” he said. He stressed that despite such acts targeting security personnel and their loved ones, they only strengthen national resolve.

Tarar highlighted the relentless efforts of Pakistan’s Army and security institutions in fostering a nation unshakable by terror. Despite terrorist threats, these agencies remain vigilant against attacks on key targets. Tarar concluded, stating that such incidents underscore national unity and reinforce the nation’s determination to maintain peace and security.
