Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said Wednesday that India had effectively raised the white flag at the Line of Control, signaling retreat after Pakistan’s military response to missile attacks on its territory.
Speaking in Islamabad, Tarar commended the Pakistan Air Force for downing five Indian fighter jets and a drone following strikes that hit civilian areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to the media around 7am at the information ministry, Tarar asserted that India had waved a white flag at the Line of Control and “accepted defeat”. The minister said this as footage of a white flag played in the background.
“They have been forced to wave a white flag,” Tarar said. PTV News also shared footage of a white flag hoisted seemingly on top of a structure.
Tarar echoed the claim on his X account, posting: “First they fled from the investigation, now they fled from the field.”
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is closely monitoring the evolving situation and assured that the nation stands united behind the armed forces.
Calling India’s targeting of civilians “highly regrettable,” Tarar said Pakistan’s response was limited to Indian warplanes involved in the aggression. He pointed out that even Indian media was acknowledging the losses.
Tarar also accused India of rejecting an offer for an independent probe into the Pahalgam incident to hide the truth. He reiterated that Pakistan, which has lost over 90,000 lives to terrorism, continues to face malicious propaganda aimed at damaging its global image.
