Three injured in accident involving loader rickshaw and motorcycle

Three men suffered injuries following a collision between a rickshaw and a motorcycle in Kahna. Police suspect speeding by the rickshaw driver caused the incident as it happened when the victims were traveling from Kahna Kacha towards Engineers Town.

Tariq, Danish, and Razzaq have since been transferred to a nearby hospital where their condition is stable. The police arrested Allah Ditta, the rickshaw driver involved in the accident, with an investigation ongoing.

Meanwhile, a grim toll of casualties has emerged across Punjab. In just one day, at least 16 people lost their lives and over 1,500 were injured due to road traffic accidents (RTCs). Out of these incidents, approximately 800 individuals received treatment in hospitals, while another 700 were treated for minor injuries by Rescue Medical Teams.

Data revealed that motorcycles accounted for as much as 75 percent of the accidents. According to official statistics, 669 victims were admitted to hospitals across Punjab; 847 others were treated at accident sites by medical teams. Among these, 171 pedestrians and 478 passengers lost their lives. The ages ranged from under 18 years old up to over 40.

The most severe incidents occurred in Lahore, affecting 274 people with a total of 233 RTCs reported. Multan followed closely behind with 113 casualties. In terms of gender, 306 victims were under the age of 18 and 90 percent were between 18 to 40 years old.

This incident underscores the need for stricter enforcement on speeding laws and greater public awareness about road safety in Punjab.
