Sophie Turner’s injury has halted production on Amazon MGM Studio’s new television show, Tomb Raider. The studio issued a statement to Deadline on Sunday, March 29, addressing the unexpected pause in the production.
“Turner recently experienced a minor injury,” the statement read. “As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”
The exact nature of Turner’s injury was not disclosed by the studio. The show, based on the Tomb Raider video game series, features executive producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who announced Turner’s casting.
Waller-Bridge expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team.”
Turner also shared her enthusiasm for the role, saying, “I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft. She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many – and I am giving everything I’ve got.”
