Eid celebrations in Lahore took an unfortunate turn when a stray dog attack claimed the life of an eight-year-old girl. The tragic event occurred on the second day of Eid in Township area, where festivities turned into mourning as the young girl, identified as Mehr, was playing outside.
The child sustained critical injuries from the attack and was rushed to Jinnah Hospital, but despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her wounds. Residents expressed anger over being discouraged from speaking with the media, citing court orders prohibiting killing stray dogs.
However, they questioned whether human life is given due importance when authorities often cite these restrictions. Locals have also highlighted the growing number of stray dogs in Township and surrounding areas, leading to feelings of insecurity among residents. They have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for immediate attention to this issue, urging a permanent solution to prevent such devastating losses from occurring again.
