Trump Administration Grants Access to Mythos 5 Model
The Trump administration has granted permission to AI company Anthropic to release its Mythos 5 model to approximately 100 companies and federal agencies. This decision marks a significant thawing of relations between the government and the firm following a two-week standoff.

Administration Spokesperson Cites Rival Company’s Report on Jailbreak
The administration spokesperson stated that the move was prompted by a rival company reporting it had found it possible to jailbreak Mythos, which surprised the Trump administration. Anthropic defended itself, arguing that the jailbreak was limited and such vulnerabilities exist among competitors’ publicly available models.
No Authorization for Fable 5 Access, Pending Further Approval
The letter did not authorize Anthropic to provide access back to Fable 5. However, there are expectations that this approval may be granted in a matter of days. An administration official quoted by Axios stated the model should remain inaccessible until the US government’s national security system is made impenetrable within the next few weeks.
February Order Prohibits Use of Anthropic Models
In February, President Trump ordered all federal agencies to cease using Anthropic’s models following the company’s refusal to agree to the Pentagon’s preferred contract terms. The company sought exemptions for autonomous weapons systems and mass surveillance use cases.
