US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday he has “good conversations” with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as part of efforts to settle the Ukraine war. In an interview on Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing,” Trump said, “We’re working on the Russia situation, Russia and Ukraine, and hopefully we’re going to get it.” He did not reveal when he last spoke with Putin but affirmed that he has had good conversations with both leaders.
Trump emphasized the absurdity of hatred between President Putin and Zelensky, stating, “It’s crazy… Hate is a bad thing. Hate is a bad thing when you’re trying to settle something, but it’ll happen.” Despite his vow to end the war following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, over a year into his second term, the conflict persists.
