President Trump Announces News Conference Following Rescue

Washington – President Trump is set to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. ET on Monday following the successful rescue of a U.S. airman in Iran over the weekend. The rescue operation was complex and involved more than 150 planes and over 200 munitions, according to officials.

The president announced early Sunday morning that the airman had been rescued, stating he was found “deep inside the mountains in Iran.” He praised both pilots as “incredible, brave” during his Easter egg roll speech on Monday.

Trump also warned of destroying Iranian power plants and other infrastructure if a deal isn’t reached to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The deadline for negotiations extended until Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET, with Trump vowing that “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day.”

Diplomatic efforts are underway, including a Pakistani proposal for a 45-day ceasefire to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
