Ukrainian woman suspected in Monaco bombing found dead in Ukraine

A Ukrainian woman, identified as Anastasiia Berezovska, is suspected of planting a bomb that targeted wealthy Ukrainian-born businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco. The explosion occurred exactly one week ago and left Yermolaiev and his wife seriously wounded, while their teenage son sustained less serious injuries.

Interpol issued a “Red Notice” for Berezovska on Friday, citing her involvement in attempted murder and criminal intent of placing an explosive device on public roads. Ukraine’s National Security Service stated that the woman arrived in the country on July 1, immediately after the bombing, and communicated with two individuals: a former law enforcement officer and a current HUR employee from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The HUR employee admitted to killing Berezovska, but claimed he had not informed his superiors about his contacts with her. During an investigation into the former law enforcement officer’s home, a basement room resembling a torture chamber was discovered.

Monaco authorities have yet to confirm the victims’ identities, but French and Ukrainian media confirmed that Yermolaiev, 58, along with his partner and their son were targeted in the attack. The bomb was detonated remotely, according to Monaco’s deputy public prosecutor Morgan Raymon.
