UNILEVER PAKISTAN HOSTS COMPETITION COMMISSION OF PAKISTAN FOR EMPLOYEE TRAINING ON COMPETITION LAW

Unilever Pakistan hosted the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) at its Head Office for a dedicated training session on competition law, reaffirming the company’s commitment to ethical business practices, regulatory compliance, and responsible corporate conduct. The session brought together senior officials from the CCP to share insights into the role of competition law in promoting fair markets and supporting a transparent business environment. The programme provided employees with practical knowledge to help strengthen a culture of integrity and compliance across the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Amir R. Paracha, CEO, Unilever Pakistan, said: “At Unilever Pakistan, integrity and responsible business practices are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that continuous learning is essential to fostering a culture of compliance and accountability across our organisation. Commenting on the importance of regulatory engagement, Aman Ghanchi, Company Secretary & PTAB General Counsel PC & Foods, Unilever Pakistan, said: “The Competition Commission of Pakistan is one of the country’s premier regulators, entrusted with the important mandate of promoting fair competition, including addressing deceptive marketing practices. Initiatives such as this training session provide a valuable platform for fostering greater awareness and strengthening compliance. In his remarks, Farid Ahmad Tarar, Chairman, Competition Commission of Pakistan, said: “Competition compliance begins with awareness. By equipping employees with a deeper understanding of competition law, organisations are better equipped to make informed decisions and contribute to a fair and competitive marketplace. We commend Unilever Pakistan for taking this important step towards reinforcing compliance through knowledge and engagement.”

During the training, Dr. Ikram ul Haq, Director General (Head of Market Intelligence Unit), CCP, provided an overview of the Commission’s functions and mandate. Ms. Marryum Pervaiz, Secretary to the Commission and Head of Merger & Acquisition and Advocacy, CCP, discussed deceptive marketing practices and mergers and acquisitions, while Ms. Maliha Quddus, Director (Cartels), CCP, shared insights into abuse of dominant position and prohibited agreements.

The programme also included an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers and discuss the practical application of the topics covered. Through initiatives such as this, Unilever Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and compliance in the way it conducts business.
