A US Navy destroyer has docked at Israel’s Eilat port, as tensions with Iran continue to rise. The deployment, part of ongoing cooperation between the U.S. and Israeli militaries, occurred without prior announcement or immediate response from either side. Ynet news reported that the arrival of the ship near the southern port on the Gulf of Aqaba was a pre-planned measure.
The US President Donald Trump has signaled openness to talks with Iran but also dispatched additional military assets to the Middle East region. A U.S. defense official, citing security concerns, could not provide details about the deployment’s operational specifics. The Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth emphasized that the U.S. military was prepared to execute any course of action ordered by the President.
While Trump has threatened military intervention against Iran for its nuclear program and warned Tehran to cease hostility, the country continues to threaten retaliatory actions. The US leader also revealed a “navy fleet” directed towards Iran, stating he hoped it would not be utilized.
