Vance Vows Iran Conflict Avoids Prolonged Wars Like Iraq, Afghanistan

US Vice President JD Vance has expressed confidence that the conflict with Iran will not escalate into a prolonged war. In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Vance stated he feels “extremely confident” that US involvement in Iran would diminish even a year later.

He believes success is achievable and emphasized that if diplomacy fails, further tools are available to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The conflict, sparked by joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28, has reached its 100-day mark this week. Since April, the war has been under a ceasefire, though efforts for comprehensive peace have seen limited progress.

President Trump has repeatedly indicated that negotiations are nearing an agreement but have faced multiple setbacks. Recent skirmishes between Iran and Israel have raised concerns about the stability of the ceasefire. Vance, known as a skeptic on international military engagement, did not rule out increased US military action if diplomacy fails.
