A section of Karachi’s University Road was closed to traffic on Monday after a water pipeline near Old Sabzi Mandi was damaged during construction work on the bus rapid transit (BRT) system.
According to traffic police, Water Board officials and repair crews have reached the site to fix the broken pipeline.
The closure has caused disruptions from Hassan Square to New Town, forcing authorities to reroute traffic. Vehicles from NIPA are being diverted via the Expo turn, while those from Essa Nagri are being redirected toward the stadium through the Hassan Square bridge.
Officials have advised commuters to take alternative routes to avoid delays. The incident adds to previous concerns about infrastructure damage linked to the ongoing BRT project.
