A weather system with clouds from the west has made its presence felt in Pakistan, particularly in Punjab, affecting several districts including Lahore. Residents have reported pleasant weather conditions, accompanied by cool winds that improved their comfort.
The rainfall started late at night in Lahore, which was a welcome change as it brought relief to the city’s residents. The managing director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has issued instructions for all officers and staff to be on alert for potential drainage issues due to expected rain events.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, there are more rain forecasts today and tomorrow. Officials anticipate a brief reprieve from rainfall after this system is gone, only to have another weather pattern enter the country soon.
State broadcaster Radio Pakistan notes that while dry conditions are predicted in most parts of the country over the next 12 hours, isolated areas such as upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience rain-wind with thunderstorms. Additionally, hail is expected at some locations during this period.
Here’s a breakdown of temperature readings in major cities:
– In Islamabad, the morning temperature stood at 16°C.
– Lahore’s temperatures were slightly warmer at 22°C.
– Karachi experienced the highest reading among coastal areas at 25°C.
– Temperatures in Peshawar and Quetta dropped to 19°C and 10°C respectively.
– In the higher altitude regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree observed a morning temperature of 8°C, while Muzaffarabad registered 15°C.
These conditions have brought about pleasant changes across Punjab, with residents hoping for continued cool weather in anticipation of potential wheat harvest benefits.
