Zooey Deschanel’s Blonde Transformation
In 2003, Zooey Deschanel surprised fans with her blonde hair transformation for the film “Elf”. She had previously dyed her hair blonde and added extensions for a screen test in a movie that never made it to screens. This role was as a pop star similar to Britney Spears.
Deschanel then landed the role of Jovie, Will Ferrell’s love interest in “Elf”. She explained on The Zach Sang Show that going back to brunette hair would be difficult after her blonde transformation for “Elf”.
The Blonde Choice
She recalled how she dyed her hair blonde and added a tan for the screen test. Once cast in “Elf”, Deschanel was told she had to maintain her blonde look as it was during filming.
Deschanel’s Blonde Look
This unexpected change of hair color became a defining moment for Deschanel, both professionally and personally. Her decision to keep her blonde hair after “Elf” solidified the transformation into an iconic part of her career.
