The 5th Commissioner Karachi Marathon took place at Captain Farhan Ali Shaheed Park, Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue, aiming to foster peace and encourage healthy lifestyles in the city. Participants from various fields, including athletes, celebrities, diplomats, and NGO representatives, joined the event alongside women, children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, adding a festive atmosphere.
The marathon featured different races catering to professional runners, women, families, amateurs, seniors, children, and individuals with disabilities, showcasing inclusivity and diversity. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab awarded cash prizes to the winners, with Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000, and Rs. 20,000 for first, second, and third place respectively.
Deputy Commissioner South, Captain Retired Altaf Hussain Sario, highlighted the marathon’s role in promoting peace and providing citizens with healthy entertainment. He emphasized the special arrangements made for security, traffic management, and media coverage to ensure a successful event.
