The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned on Thursday that a fresh spell of rain and snowfall is expected across various parts of the country starting January 31, advising citizens and tourists in upper and mountainous regions to exercise caution amid expected harsh weather conditions.

According to the PMD, a weak westerly weather system will enter the western and northern parts of the country from January 30 and is likely to persist until February 3.

From January 31 to February 3, cloudy weather with rain and light to moderate snowfall is anticipated in northern Balochistan, northern areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Islamabad, the Potohar region, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and surrounding areas, rain with thunder and snowfall is expected from February 1 to 3. Murree and Galiyat along with adjacent regions may experience rain along with snowfall.

Snowfall could make roads slippery, disrupting traffic flow, while the risk of landslides remains high in upper and hilly areas. Tourists and residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures during the forecast period.
