Pakistan’s Power Division has announced daily load shedding for approximately two hours and 15 minutes during peak electricity consumption times between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

A spokesperson stated that power distribution companies (DISCOs) must inform consumers about outage timings in advance. The government is taking measures to provide relief, including the timely closure of commercial markets at federal and provincial levels.

Officials noted that reducing demand could prevent significant price hikes. Between July and February, electricity consumers saved Rs46 billion despite a 71 paisa per unit tariff reduction.

The spokesperson highlighted improved energy source utilization and efficiency in power generation as stabilizing factors. Transmission and administrative losses have also been reduced.

Despite global challenges, the government maintains stable and sufficient electricity generation to meet demand. However, reliance on costly fuels could still lead to price increases. The Prime Minister’s directives are being closely monitored to prevent sharp tariff rises. Currently, 80 MMCFD of local gas is supplied to power plants, preventing an increase of 80 paisas per unit and avoiding further load management.
