Maryam Nawaz Urges Green Measures for Climate Change Fight in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasizes importance of greenery in combating climate change. In her Earth Day message, she urges collective efforts towards environmental protection and reduction of plastic use.

The CM directs provincial ministers to undertake plantation activities and public awareness campaigns for environmental protection. She highlights the need for forest conservation, reduced carbon emissions, and promotion of a green economy.

Sharif emphasizes that individuals and organizations working for environmental harmony deserve appreciation. The earth is not just for present generations but also an inheritance for future ones, she adds.

Punjab has adopted a plastic zero-waste policy and established the first “Smart Environment Force” for protection. Sharif stresses control of pollution, conservation of resources, reduction of climate change effects, and improvement of environmental health as essential needs. She further emphasizes the need to leave a healthy, green earth for future generations. Work is underway on a 10-year Climate Change Action Plan along with various mega projects for environmental enhancement.
