NAC Demands Reforms Amid Economic Failures in Ruling Coalition

The National Alliance Conference (NAC), chaired by the National Dialogue Council (NDC), unanimously passed a resolution condemning the ruling coalition’s economic management. The conference called for constitutional and structural reforms, including the formation of a national government to lead Pakistan towards credible elections.

The resolution highlighted several issues: high petrol and diesel prices due to exorbitant profits made by refineries; increased taxes on essential goods like electricity and gas; excessive taxation under Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif’s tenure; and economic policies that have been catastrophic.

Economic growth, public welfare, and empowered local governments were deemed impossible under the current leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari. The resolution emphasized the need for reforms in local governance, fiscal policy, and tax reductions to ensure accountability and transparency.

A national government was seen as a viable option to implement these reforms and pave the way for fair elections.
