Dar Warns Against Weaponisation of Water at UN Security Council

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar told the UN Security Council that India’s use of water as a weapon is unacceptable. He made these remarks during a high-level debate on maintaining international peace and security, amid growing geopolitical tensions.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s stance on longstanding disputes, emphasizing the importance of diplomacy in conflict resolution. He stressed the UN Charter’s principles of equal rights and self-determination for all citizens.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted regional tensions, particularly in the Middle East, warning that these conflicts threaten global stability and economic growth. He urged states to uphold international agreements and legal norms in resolving disputes.

Dar reiterated his stance on the Indus Waters Treaty, rejecting any unilateral suspension by India. He underscored the unresolved Kashmir dispute, urging for renewed efforts to address long-standing conflicts under international law.
