Sindh Cabinet Approves Funds for Water Supply, Drainage Projects Amid Timely Completion Commitment

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over a provincial cabinet meeting on Tuesday, approving various initiatives including significant financial allocations. The package includes Rs 8.825 billion for water and drainage schemes across Sindh province and Rs 11.198 billion for major infrastructure projects in Karachi.

Minister for Local Government, Syed Nasir Shah, recommended the approval of an additional Rs 8.824 billion for 16 ADP schemes related to water supply and drainage for the financial year 2025-26. Of this amount, Rs 6.206 billion will be re-appropriated from existing allocations while Rs 2.618 billion will come from another development allocation.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized that there will be no compromise on timely completion and transparency of these projects. He also highlighted the government’s focus on enhancing security institutions and ensuring an effective legal system.

In response to evolving security needs, the cabinet approved a revised procurement plan for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) worth Rs 857.024 million. Direct contracting with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) was allowed for specialized equipment and services needed to bolster CTD’s operational capacity.
