Kabul’s Foreign Minister Expresses Hope for Peace Talks
Peace talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Urumqi are deemed “useful,” according to Kabul’s foreign ministry. The negotiations, initiated last week at China’s invitation, aim to halt cross-border fighting that began in February.
The conflict has resulted in hundreds of deaths and displaced 94,000 people overall, with 100,000 more cut off from aid near the border since February. This situation has raised concerns among international communities due to the presence of other armed groups like al-Qaeda and ISIL (ISIS) nearby.
