Josh Rushing, Al Jazeera journalist, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding War or Violence Conflict Coverage. He dedicated the award to journalists killed in Gaza since October 7.

Rushing accepted the award in New York, acknowledging the irony of recognition “in the very country that enables genocide.”

He highlighted growing concerns within journalism about risks faced by reporters covering conflicts.

Rushing described current media environment as increasingly hostile and dangerous for reporting from war zones.

His remarks underscored need for greater recognition of risks faced by correspondents and producers in conflict coverage.

The Emmy win adds to accolades for Al Jazeera’s Fault Lines investigative series, which has received international acclaim for its in-depth reporting on global conflicts.
