Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, expressed concern over her brother’s prison conditions on Thursday. She claimed that Imran Khan was being kept in isolation under unprecedented circumstances for a political leader.
Aleema spoke to the media outside an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, stating that neither she nor other PTI leaders had held meetings regarding ongoing political developments. She criticized the party’s leadership, saying many leaders had secured votes in Imran Khan’s name but failed to deliver tangible benefits to the party.
She also referred to recent political contacts and expressed hope for improvement, questioning the effectiveness of talks with a prime minister who “has to seek permission before giving an answer”.
The ATC extended interim bail until July 9 for Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Azam Swati, and other PTI leaders in multiple May 9 riot cases. The court directed the prosecution and defense counsel to present their arguments at the next hearing.
The cases relate to incidents of arson, vandalism, attacks, including the burning of the PML-N office, violence near Jinnah House, and other May 9-related cases registered at Shadman Police Station and elsewhere.
