In Islamabad, Ali Amin Gandapur appeared in court for the audio leak case, leading to the cancellation of his arrest warrant and termination of proceedings against him as a proclaimed offender. This occurred during the hearing held by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch.
Gandapur appeared with his lawyer Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, alongside co-accused Asad Farooq Khan, who was also present in court. The judge formally charged both Gandapur and Khan in the audio leak case. During the proceedings, the judge criticized Gandapur for repeatedly failing to appear in court, claiming this was due to security concerns, curfews, and road blockages impeding his attendance.
Gandapur explained that he had been discussing license-related matters over a call when his phone was seized during raids. He added that his mobile device had not yet been returned to him. The judge observed that merely providing an explanation is insufficient for conviction, emphasizing that charges hadn’t been formally filed for quite some time now.
Gandapur’s lawyer requested the cancellation of the arrest warrant, asserting that the court had the authority to revoke such a warrant upon the accused’s appearance in court. The judge agreed with this request, instructing Gandapur to exercise caution and attend future hearings regularly. Additionally, if similar situations arise, a formal exemption request for attendance should be filed.
The hearing concluded by adjourning the next session of the case until April 6, 2026.
