Amanda Seyfried did not know until weeks into production that she was also an executive producer of “The Housemaid.” The psychological thriller starred Seyfried alongside Sydney Sweeney and Brandon Sklenar. During a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, Seyfried shared her initial confusion when presented with the call sheet: “I didn’t sign up for that. I only acted in it.”
Seyfried explained, “It was one of those vanity credits because I didn’t do s*** to make that movie. I only acted in it. That’s the thing about vanity credits—everyone jumps in, has a bunch of fun, and then they’re like sending me on a vacation.”
Despite her role as an executive producer being minimal, Seyfried found value in the opportunity. “One of the reasons I wanted to act in this movie was to work under Paul Feig’s direction,” she said. “I wanted that movie because I wanted Paul Feig. It’s been surprising and wonderful.”
The film, a psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig, premiered on December 19, 2025. Seyfried described the experience as unexpectedly delightful, despite not having much involvement behind the scenes. “It was one of those vanity credits because I didn’t do s*** to make that movie,” she reiterated. “I only acted in it.”
