ATC Issues 14th Non-Bailable Warrant for Aleema Khan in Protest Case

ATC Rawalpindi issued a crucial non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan in connection with the protest case registered on November 26 at Sadiqabad Police Station. The ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah conducted the hearing and ordered her immediate production along with guarantors, who must be brought before the court on February 24.

Aleema Khan has faced such warrants repeatedly, marking her as a significant player in an ongoing legal battle against terrorism-related offenses. The ATC’s decision comes after the prosecution accused her of deliberately obstructing trial proceedings and requested that she lose her right to cross-examine witnesses. In response, the prosecutor demanded that state counsel be appointed to ensure swift progress without delay.

During the hearing, the court expressed deep dissatisfaction with Aleema Khan’s absence and her defense counsel’s non-appearance, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Moreover, two final investigating officers have been summoned for their testimony at the next scheduled hearing, adding another layer of scrutiny to the case.

The protest case in question took place on November 26, implicating anti-terrorism laws as a framework for legal proceedings. This development underscores Pakistan’s stringent approach towards terrorism and protests deemed threats to national security.
