ATC Sentences 10 in May 9 Violence Case

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced ten individuals, including four Afghan nationals, to imprisonment of up to six years for their involvement in the May 9, 2023, violence. The convicts were also ordered to pay fines.

The sentenced individuals include Abid Mahmood, Ahsan Ayaz, Naeemullah, Matiullah, Shaukat, and Zakirullah Khan, along with Afghan nationals Dawood Khan, Younus Khan, Ehsanullah, and Lal Agha.

The violence led to cases being filed against 17 suspects on May 10, 2023. Following investigations, one suspect was acquitted, and six others remain at large. The court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the absconders and directed authorities to apprehend and present them before the court.

Law enforcement officials reiterated their commitment to holding individuals accountable for orchestrating or supporting anti-state activities disguised as protests. The government emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for actions that compromise national peace and stability.
