Thai girl’s body found in suitcase sparks arrest

An Australian man has been arrested and charged with murder after a 17-year-old Thai girl was discovered dead in a suitcase in Pattaya. Simon Peter Carman, aged 40, was apprehended at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on Saturday.

CCTV footage reviewed by police showed Carman entering the condominium with the victim before leaving alone hours later carrying a suitcase. He then loaded it onto a motorcycle and rode to a grassy area near a railway line.

Carman issued a message to the victim’s family in an investigation room at the police station, expressing his regret for her death. The father of the victim, Thongchai Donhomla, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

The victim’s stepmother, Oradee Bussarakum, called for the harshest punishment against Carman, stating she wants him executed. The court date has yet to be set.
