The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks will remain closed on November 9 in observance of Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal’s birth anniversary, also known as Iqbal Day. The central bank issued the directive on Thursday, aligning with the federal government’s announcement of a public holiday across the country.

This year marks the 147th birth anniversary of Dr. Iqbal, celebrated as the ‘Thinker of Pakistan,’ who inspired millions of Muslims in the sub-continent to advocate for an independent homeland where they could practice Islam freely. Iqbal’s vision remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s ideological foundation.
