Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), pledged job creation, rights, and development for Gilgit-Baltistan during an election campaign in Gilgit. He vowed to secure energy projects and enhance political representation post-June 7.
The PPP has championed the region’s rights for three generations, presenting its manifesto across all constituencies with strong public support, according to Bilawal. However, he alleged that their mandate was stolen in the last election.
Bilawal credited the Bhutto family for Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs, acknowledging PPP leadership’s role in national security and foreign policy decisions. He emphasized the region’s vast hydro potential, capable of generating up to 50,000 megawatts of electricity, positioning Gilgit-Baltistan as a “hidden treasure” of Pakistan’s economy.
He urged supporters to secure the mandate and ensure fairness in the electoral process amid global challenges such as conflicts in Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza.
