Britney Spears was taken into custody on March 4 after driving under the influence in California. She voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility following her arrest.

A spokesperson for Spears revealed to E! News that a source told TMZ, “She realizes she hit rock bottom.” It’s important to note that Spears has had issues with drugs in the past.

While one insider suggested that entering rehab is stemming from her pending DUI case, another claimed, “She knows strategically this will look good in front of the judge — that she’s taking it seriously.”

According to police records, Spears was arrested at 9 pm local time and released the next morning. Sources stated after her arrest on DUI charges that “this was an unfortunate incident” and “is completely inexcusable.”

The spokesperson added that “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law,” hoping this can be a first step towards long-overdue change in her life. They also expressed hope that she can receive the necessary help and support during this challenging time.
