The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has called upon Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to present himself before the bench today in connection with the case of missing Baloch students.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, presiding over the case, issued a written order directing PM Kakar, along with defence and interior ministers and relevant ministry secretaries, to appear at the hearing scheduled for 10 am.
In the preceding hearing on February 13, the court had specifically instructed the interim premier to attend.
During the previous session, Justice Kayani emphatically expressed that those found guilty of enforced disappearances should face the death penalty. He emphasized the gravity of the matter by demanding PM Kakar’s personal appearance to provide justification for potential legal action against him.
Despite pleas for more time from the advocate general, Justice Kayani rejected the government’s request, highlighting the urgency and seriousness of the issue at hand.
This isn’t the first time PM Kakar has been called upon by the IHC. He was previously summoned on November 22, 2023, in connection with a case filed by Advocate Imaan Mazari, but was unable to attend due to being out of the country.
