Catherine Zeta-Joins Reveals Living in NYC Hasn’t Hurt Her Hollywood Career

Catherine Zeta-Jones, an Oscar-winning actress, discussed her experiences living in New York City versus Los Angeles during a People magazine interview. “It’s funny,” she began, “I’ve lived on the East Coast and with Michael for many years now. It’s interesting to wonder if staying here has been detrimental to my career.”

“I never really felt like I was part of L.A.’s scene,” she acknowledged. “For me, my social life doesn’t revolve around Hollywood at all; it revolves around New York business people, Wall Street professionals, and art enthusiasts.”

She pointed out that her circle of friends in the city are distinctly different from those who would be found on the West Coast. “It’s not detrimental to anyone living there; I just have a slightly different set of connections here.”

The actress also revealed her interest in eclectic collecting. “I’ve been dipping my toes into that world,” she said. This hobby seems inspired by her appreciation for New York’s art scene, which previously drew her admiration from viewing artists’ works displayed at fancy homes on the Hamptons.

Currently, Catherine is exploring this interest further as they took a trip to Antarctica without purchasing anything there. However, she mentioned taking $60,000 worth of Leica cameras along. “Just being in that environment,” she added, “you look around and it’s just the most amazing natural art.”
