
The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen their collaboration in research, policy analysis, and evidence-based recommendations aimed at promoting competitive and inclusive markets. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, Chairman of the CCP, along with Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri and senior officials from both organizations.
The MoU was signed by Salman Amin, Member of the CCP, and Dr Sajid Amin Javed, Deputy Executive Director of SDPI.
Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu highlighted that the partnership would enable both institutions to collaboratively review legal and regulatory frameworks and update them in alignment with current market realities. He emphasized the importance of producing high-quality research, reports, and data to support better policy solutions aimed at benefiting consumers and businesses alike. Dr Sidhu also underscored the necessity of maintaining free markets from monopolistic and oligopolistic practices.
Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri further stated that the collaboration between SDPI and CCP would generate strong analytical inputs to bolster government policymaking. He added that joint research efforts could offer practical pathways to address existing challenges across various sectors, thereby promoting competition-friendly policies.
The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation in research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building to strengthen competition policy and promote fair, transparent, and efficient markets within Pakistan.
