Approves Acquisition
The (CCP) has approved the proposed acquisition of the liquid carbon dioxide plant by Pak Arab Fertilizers Limited. The approval was granted following a Phase-I review under the Competition Act, 2010.
Pak Arab Fertilizers Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, is involved in manufacturing and selling fertilizers and chemicals. Pakistan Oxygen Limited operates in industrial gases production.
The CCP’s assessment found that the transaction involves a horizontal merger with limited impact on market share or competitive conditions. No barriers to entry were identified, nor was there evidence suggesting significant enhancement of market power or distortion of competition.
This approval underscores the CCP’s commitment to facilitating legitimate business transactions while ensuring competition and consumer welfare are protected.
