Pezeshkian: Negotiations Depend on Agreed Commitments, Not Outside Statements

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that progress in ongoing negotiations with the US hinges on full implementation of agreed commitments. In a post on X, he emphasized that comments outside the agreed framework would not aid talks.

The effectiveness of discussions between the two nations depends on commitment to and precise execution of agreed obligations, according to Pezeshkian. He added that “statements outside the agreed text do not help advance the negotiations.”

US and Iranian officials met at Burgenstock resort under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding framework. Iran and the US signed a 14-point agreement brokered by Pakistan on June 14.

The accord, known as the Islamabad Understanding, came into force on June 18 after being electronically signed by Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump. It includes provisions aimed at ending hostilities in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the US naval blockade imposed on Iran.
