The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in research, policy analysis, and evidence-based recommendations aimed at fostering competitive and inclusive markets.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, Chairman CCP, and senior officials from both organizations. The MoU was signed by Salman Amin, Member CCP, and Dr Sajid Amin Javed, Deputy Executive Director SDPI.

Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu stated that the partnership would enable both institutions to jointly review legal and regulatory frameworks and update them in line with changing market realities. He highlighted that such collaboration could produce high-quality research, reports, and data supporting better policy solutions. Dr Sidhu emphasized that markets should benefit consumers and businesses at large, not a few, and must remain free from monopolistic and oligopolistic practices.

Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri noted that the SDPI-CCP partnership would generate strong analytical inputs to support government policymaking. He added that joint research would provide practical pathways to address existing challenges across sectors and promote competition-friendly policies.

The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation in research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building to strengthen competition policy and promote fair, transparent, and efficient markets in Pakistan.
